Even Lions Get Scared Wins International Book Award

Last night in London, something very special happened. Even Lions Get Scared was named Children’s Winner at the 2025 Ink Book Prize - a moment that feels both surreal and deeply meaningful.

This book was written with one clear purpose: to help children understand that fear is not something to avoid, but something we can move through together. To see that message recognised on an international stage is incredibly humbling.

The Ink Book Prize celebrates independent authors and bold storytelling. To be included among such talented writers, and to have this story resonate with judges, educators and readers, is something I don’t take lightly.

Scout’s journey learning to face his “wobbles” and find his inner bravery reflects what so many children experience every day. And what so many parents are trying to support, often without a roadmap.

This award isn’t just for a book. It’s for every child learning that courage doesn’t mean not feeling scared it means staying with the feeling long enough to find your way through.

Thank you to every parent, teacher and little reader who has shared this story. You are the reason it exists.

This is just the beginning.

Book and new merchandise will be available to shop online soon.
